What to do around Khla Lodge ?

Kampot city

Kampot city

Only 12 kms from Khla Lodge, it's a beautiful place to sleep (but which has tended to wake up in recent years), life is sweet and peaceful in the middle of a remarkable colonial architecture.
The long walk along the river is very popular in the evening, there is always a little fresh air.
The governor's palace can be visited, nice little museum

Visit a Kampot pepper farm

Visit a Kampot pepper farm

Kampot pepper is recognized as the best in the world. You don't know anything about pepper growing and are interested in this subject? Khla Lodge can arrange for you a visit to a farm with its partner producer. The Khla brand also markets its spices.

Visit the salt marshes of the Kampot Delta

Visit the salt marshes of the Kampot Delta

The city of Kampot is located on the banks of the Teuk Chhou River. Khla Lodge is located upstream on the small arm of the river. This river separates when it reaches the town and forms a delta suitable for the exploitation of salt marshes. The work of the salt by the families of farmers is a very picturesque and authentic spectacle. Khla Lodge can organize a visit to the salt marshes.

The Bokor mountain station

The Bokor mountain station

Created in the 1920s to allow French civil servants to rest in the cool, this mountain resort is a very popular place for tourists and Khmer people alike. After 33 kms of mountain road through the Preah Monivong National Park, the arrival on this 1000 meter high plateau offers a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Siam. In turn abandoned then restored, there are a few buildings such as a recently restored palace, a Catholic church martyred by the Khmer Rouge, former residences of King Sihanouk in the 60s, a pagoda, the waterfalls of Popokvil, Bokor is a strange place whose soul must have been hard to define. Interesting, however, to spend a day in the cool.

Phnom Chhngok Cave

Phnom Chhngok Cave

At 30mn of tuktuk from Kampot are the caves of Phnom Chhnok. The hills ("Phnom" in Khmer) of this area have a number of caves including this one. Easily accessible, one must first climb the Phnom which allows a magnificent view from its summit, before going into the natural excavation. It is said that some concretions inside the cave have animal forms, but the most surprising is to discover at the end of the journey a small brick temple of the 7th century dedicated to Shiva.

Kep crab market

Kep crab market

Kep was a very famous seaside resort in the 60s, we discover many ruins of villas from this period, most of them unfortunately devastated by the Khmer Rouge.
The crab market is a must in this small indolent town, you can see fishermen bringing back their pots full of crabs (the particularity of the crabs of Kep is their blue color), negotiated on the pontoon, they are then cooked directly on the braziers for the greedy, a real delight with the small fish and squid skewers, freshness guaranteed!

Massage and yoga

Massage and yoga

Traditional Khmer massages are very technical with more or less strong pressure on the draining points.
We do not (yet) have a massage service at Khla Lodge nor a yoga teacher, but ask us if you would like to take advantage of the quietness of our hotel to book one.
A yoga session in the garden of Khla Lodge is particularly relaxing!
