Khla Lodge sits on the banks of a tributary of the Teuk Chhou River, twelve kilometres upstream from Kampot, where rice paddies meet the treeline and the days move at the pace of the current.

Opened in 2020, Khla Lodge was built using traditional Khmer construction methods and materials, then furnished with a contemporary, unfussy hand. Five rooms only — enough to know every guest by name, not enough to ever feel crowded.
At the centre of the property, a 20-metre pool looks out over the water. Tropical gardens, hammocks strung between the trees, and a small library of books and board games round out the pace of the place: unhurried.
